In Obermais, on the route from Tirolo to Merano, are the Botanic Gardens, which are among the "loveliest gardens" of their kind in all of Europe. In the midst of these huge gardens lies Trauttmansdorff Castle, the former spa town of Austrian empress Sissi and the interesting and variety-packed tourism museum, which features informative and completely innovative aspects of contemporary history. Here 80 garden realms come together in ideal climatic conditions. A few years ago the facilities were named Italy’s loveliest gardens and in 2006 were also named among the loveliest gardens in Europe.
